Dr. Norwood joined Hampton University in August 2019 and has focused efforts on enhancing mental health services to college students.  Given her background working with military Veterans and now college students, Dr. Norwood’s clinical expertise is rooted in providing evidence based psychotherapy to trauma survivors and those dealing with life transitions.  In addition to her role with the Student Counseling Center, Dr. Norwood also serves as a Part Time Faculty Member in the Department of Psychology.

Most recently, Dr. Norwood started ReMIND U, LLC which serves to promote the importance of Remembering to Keep Mental Health in Discussions.  Through ReMIND U, Dr. Norwood provides therapy services, mental wellness workshops, speaking engagements, and the ReMIND U podcast.  Her ultimate goal is to help normalize mental health care in communities of color through healthy discussions that provide education and awareness.

Dr. Norwood’s work is embodied by: “you may not be responsible for being down…but you are responsible for getting up.”  She believes that her calling is to help decrease the stigma of mental health and to promote a culture in which marginalized communities can maintain emotional wellness.
