Episode 16: Sonia Ross, LCSW-C

Sonia Ross, LCSW-C, is the CEO & Founder of Full Circle Therapy Services LLC – a holistic therapeutic practice focused on the unique emotional needs of Black women.

In her work she focuses on helping Black women heal and rebuild their relationship with their bodies which has been disrupted due to centuries of trauma and oppression. She helps to support and guide women in noticing how the patterns of trauma, oppression and anti-blackness show up in their relationship with bodies and mind. Ms. Ross supports women in healing from depression, anxiety and other emotional wounds that are often symptoms of intergenerational trauma and internalized oppression. This reconnection can be very eye-opening for the women she serves leading to a more holistic, loving and compassionate relationship with themselves as Black women.

Ms. Ross was inspired to pursue this work because of the unique emotional health needs of Black women that are often ignored by society. She understands these needs personally, due to her own recovery process as a childhood trauma and sexual assault survivor and the impact this had on her life for many years after wards.

It is Ms. Ross’ passion and purpose in life to help other women heal their own lives so they can build a loving and compassion relationship with their bodies as an antidote to the daily white supremacy and anti-blackness we experience as Black women. She is the author of Master Your Depression: A Black Woman’s Guide to Emotional Wellness which is an extension of her work in this area.
